Maths Badges

From reception all of our children have the opportunity to earn Maths Badges:

NUMBER BOND CHALLENGE 

A Yellow badge is awarded for knowing number bonds to 5

A Green badge is awarded for knowing number bonds to 10 (including number bonds 6,7,8,and 9)

A Red badge is awarded for knowing number bonds to 15 (including 11,12,13and 14)

A Blue badge is awarded for knowing number bonds to 20 (including number bonds 11.12.13.14.15.16.17.18 and 19)

 

       

 

TIMES TABLE CHALLENGE 1

 

A Bronze Badge is for x2,x5 and x10,

 

A Silver Badge is for x3,x4 and x11

 

A Gold Badge is for x6,x8 and doubles to 25, plus halves of even numbers to 50

 

 A Diamond Badge is for x7, x9 and x12 and doubles and halves to 50

 

Our children not only need to know the times table answers but also questions like

 

How many 5’s are in 45

 

What is the product of 5 and 9

 

What are 3 lots of 10?

 

   
   

 

TIMES TABLE CHALLENGE 2

 

A Platinum Badge is for knowing the first 10 Prime numbers, Square numbers up to 20x20 and doubles and halves to 100.

 

THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE....THE MATHS CHAMPION CAP! 

 

To become a Maths Champion and wear a special cap, and be able to test other children you need to have all of the knowledge above plus being able to instantly recall:

 

A decimal converted to a percentage

 

A decimal converted a fraction

 

Doubles and halves to 1000

 

The first 10 Cube numbers

 

Including questions like ….

 

Do you know what 3/8 are as a decimal?

 

What is the square root of 36?

 

Can you name the first five prime numbers?
