Music is an integral part of school life at Bowlee Park and is key to offering our children a broad and varied curriculum of study from our pupils; it develops a range of important skills within a child such as listening and evaluation skills as well as developing fine and gross motor control.

Music is taught in a fun, interactive and practical way, with children studying both contemporary and classical music, traditional music by British composers as well as music from a range of cultures. Children also learn to read notation and compose their own music using ipads.

Opportunities are given to all pupils at Bowlee Park through a range of music activities and provision such as:

  • Weekly curriculum music lessons for all children with a specialist music teacher which incorporates singing and whole class instrumental tuition on Djembe, Cornets, P Bones, Recorder and Ukulele
  • A weekly school choir for children in Key Stage 2
  • Regular performances throughout the school year to showcase our talents
  • Singing in assemblies and services
  • Taking part in local and national music events in both Key Stage 1 and 2
  • A weekly brass club for children wanting to continue tuition on our brass instruments.
  • Ukulele club for children wishing to further their skills learnt during lessons.
