Remote Learning for Children during Lockdown
During the lockdown period, school will provide curriculum aligned remote learning. Learning at home during this period will be through the use of online learning programmes as well as the use of a printed learning pack.
Your child will need to access to the following each day:
How to Access Remote Learning
Inside your child’s reading record you will find their log-in details for ‘SIMS ID’ to access each of the websites listed above. All the online learning platforms listed above can be accessed through this site. We are supporting children in school to become familiar with the online learning platforms so that they are prepared in the event of remote learning.
Did you know your child can access Google Classrooms via an XBox or PS4? Open the document below for the easy to follow instructions.
Remote education provision: information for parents.
This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.
We have made a video to show you how to access your child's home learning through SIMS ID and how to use Google Classroom. Please watch this video as it may answer any questions you have.
If you are having an issue where SIMS ID is trying to link a personal account you may have (a Gmail email) you can solve this by simply opening an incognito tab to login to SIMS ID and subsequently Google Classroom. You can find the incognito tab or window option on the three dots in the top right hand corner of your browser.
Parents/carers can contact their child’s class teacher through the class email address between 8:40 – 15:40 Monday to Friday, for support with remote learning. Teachers will not respond to any emails out of these hours or any emails that are not connected to remote learning.

Information about online learning programmes
Our school has recently purchased an online reading program called Bug Club that we’d like to share with you. We want to offer your child access to as many books as possible at home.
Below you will find key information about the scheme and how you can get involved. We hope that you and your child will love these books and enjoy reading them at home.
Reading a book online
We will allocate books to your child according to their reading levels. These books will appear in the ‘My Stuff’ area of their personal homepages.
Throughout the books there are quiz questions for your child to complete. To answer a question, just click on the bug icon. Your child does not need to finish all the quiz questions in one sitting and can come back to a book later.
When your child has finished all the quiz questions in a book, he or she will earn ‘ActiveLearn Coins’. By reading more books, your child will earn enough coins to ‘buy’ a reward in one of the many reward schemes. The answers to the quiz questions will be sent back to our teacher site so that we can see how your child is progressing. We will also be able to assign more books for your child to read if the virtual book bag is running low.
When your child has finished a book, it will move to ‘My Library’. Children can read these books again if they want to, or they can choose new books from ‘My Stuff’.

Mathletics is a targeted, rewarding and captivating online learning resource, which is aligned to curriculum standards. Your child has home access to Mathletics – they simply sign in with their school username and password using any compatible computer or mobile device.
The extra Mathletics practice at home can make all the difference to your child’s progress. Encourage them to achieve a weekly target of 1000 points to earn a certificate, building through bronze, silver and gold across the school year. Go for Gold! Over the summer holidays, your child can revise and practise the maths concepts that they have been taught in school. This is a really good way to prepare for their next year in school.
Sign in with your child to start exploring what Mathletics has to offer:

We have an online sentence-writing, grammar, punctuation and spelling programme called IXL to support our English curriculum next year. Your child will have access to this online program at home. With thousands of skills that match our curriculum learning, as well as insights into student progress, IXL is a great resource to help your child excel.
Your child will be able to access fun games and activities that will help them with concepts that are being taught in school. For younger children every question and activity can be read to them, helping them along the way.
One of the ways IXL makes learning fun is through hundreds of virtual awards that reflect children's favourite animals, foods, places and hobbies. On IXL English, children try to complete their collections of stickers, stamps, balloon animals and more!
We have chosen programs that are easily accessible on many devices. IXL and Mathletics are available as an app from Google play and the App store. Bug Club is a website that will work on many devices including iPads and tablets.
It is essential to support your child to keep safe when accessing the internet. We have ensured that the websites we are using for online learning are safe, but please be vigilant when accessing other programs and websites. It is important that you read our online code of conduct for parents, our remote learning policy and familiarise yourself with the online safety guides accessed through the link below.
